Awakening Amaru Medicine and the Power of Ceremony with Silvia Calisaya Chuquimia

  • Sat Nam Yoga Chicago 1304 West Washington Boulevard Chicago, IL, 60607 United States (map)

Connect to the powerful medicine of Amaru, the snake, a symbol of the purest, original, feminine energy.

You’ll learn how to connect and awaken the Amaru (serpentine) medicine; the powerful life force that resides within us and the Mother Earth, which activates rejuvenation, rebirth, life, and healing.

Understanding this powerful symbol is crucial for any healer in the Andean tradition.

In second part of workshop we will learn about the importance of ceremony in our lives. In her tradition, every single day is lived in ceremony. When we connect to the sacredness in life, and develop a practice of honoring it with gratitude, our lives transform in wondrous ways. The Aymara Peruvian spiritual concept of “Ayni,” which means living in a state of gratitude and reciprocity is an essential ingredient of living a sacred life in harmonious balance with all of creation.

We will finish the day with a Fire Ceremony. 🔥

Silvia Calisaya Chuquimia aka Mama Coco is a traditional Aymara spiritual healer, teacher, and direct descendant of the pre-Incan people who still inhabit the southern Lake Titicaca region.

Silvia was born and raised in a small highland village. She left when she was a young woman to pursue her education and professional life, but later returned to the traditional spiritual teachings of her people. She is an expert in the ancient art of reading coca leaves for divination and healing and is the proprietor of the Coca Leaf Museum in Puno, Peru. Coca is a sacred plant for the inhabitants of the Andes, which is still held in veneration among the indigenous and mestizo people of South America.

“My grandmother was my first university; she was a healer and midwife . . . I started learning many things from her, as well as the coca reading. I tried to seek about the origin of the coca leaves, and why people are still using them. Doing this, I found the life philosophy of the Aymaras still living in this part of the world and follow the traditional healing."

Silvia comes to share the philosophy, teachings, and traditions of the Aymara, as well as the history of the ancient people still living in PERU.

Silvia has traveled globally for the last 20 years to share these teachings- Canada, Holland, Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Spain, Sweden, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Argentina, Brazil, Australia and now the United States.
